The Geauga County Public Library would like to announce the following vacancy, due to retirement:


Position:  Head of Outreach

Library:  Based out of Middlefield Library (Geauga County Public Library)

Salary:   $33,800 exempt, full-time

Qualifications:
            *ALA Accredited MLS/MLIS degree

            *Strong public service skills

            *Experience in outreach and/or bookmobile services preferred

            *Ability to work with people of all ages, including staff, volunteers, and the public

            *Ability to supervise, schedule, and evaluate staff

            *Ability to drive and operate controls on the bookmobile, and ability to maneuver oneself while within the confines of the bus

            *Possesses (or can obtain) and maintains an Ohio driver’s license and clean driving record

            *Possesses excellent time management skills

            *Basic mechanical knowledge

            *Working knowledge of computers, technology, and software

            *Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand up to 50% of working time

            *Vision sufficient to read a computer screen and book/media spine labels

            *Ability to communicate in English, effectively, with the public and staff in person, over the phone, and online.

            *Ability to use hands and fingers, grasp handles, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.

            *Ability to be flexible and adapt to library needs in a changing work environment.

 

Staff Supervised:  Bookmobile Supervisor (1FT), Bookmobile Driver/Clerks (1FT, 4PT), and Aides (2PT)

 

Duties: 

           *Develops, recommends, and implements Outreach Plan of Service for GCPL.                                            

           *Collaborates and builds relationships with relevant county agencies and resources.                                            

           *Oversees the delivery and circulation of library materials to the public via the Bookmobile, Amish Book Collection, Homebound Services,      Services for the Visually Impaired, etc., including supervision, scheduling, and training of staff and volunteers (60-70% of time).

           *Provides regular, direct public service (20% of time) on the Bookmobile.

           *Recommends and monitors spending of the Bookmobile budget. 

           *Recruits and works with outreach volunteers and Friends group.

           *Coordinates participation in educational community events.

    

 

Scheduling Needs:  Schedule includes full days with at least one evening per week along with Saturday rotation.
