Science Online Database Update 

Science Online has recently been updated with a variety of new images, updates to the Nobel Prize timeline, and hundreds of updated subject entries and biographies in core discipline areas . We invite you to continue reading for more details and to forward this email to your colleagues. 
	

New Science Images 

Let your students and patrons get up close to fascinating and timely topics in a variety of science disciplines with the new images just added to Science Online . The 35 new images depict recent astronomical discoveries, worldwide natural disasters, the West Africa Ebola outbreak, and subject matter in biology, environmental science, marine science, and weather and climate. Perfect for enhancing lesson plans or reports! 

New images include: 
    * Ebola Virus 
    * Satellite Image of Arctic Sea Ice 
    * NASA's MAVEN Spacecraft Enters Mars's Orbit . 
	

New Updates to the Nobel Prize Timeline 

In October 2014, the Nobel Prize was awarded to three scientists in the Physiology or Medicine category, three in the Physics category, and three in Chemistry. Science Online 's timeline has been updated to reflect these wins, with each entry showing at a glance the date, the names of the winners and categories, and a brief description of the winning discoveries. 


Updated Subject Entries and Biographies 

More than 460 subject entries and biographies were recently updated in core discipline areas, from computer science and technology to earthquakes and volcanoes, from evolution and chemistry to space and astronomy. Look to the Suggested Searches in the right column of each article to explore related content and dig deeper into a topic. 

Updated content includes:

    * Impact of Volcanic Eruptions on Climate 
    * Snowball Earth 
    * Mars Surface Rover
