This message was originally HTML formatted. View in a HTML capable client to see the original version.\r\n\r\nThere is a lot banter comparing the resources found at Ohio Means Jobs to those available through Learning Express.

There appears to be four practice assessments at Ohio Means Jobs plus many Veteran Resources geared for our veterans re-entering the workforce.

Learning Express, on the other hand, has nine learning centers with four or more learning resources per learning center and even more tests and practices as you work through the layers. The Learning Express resources address the needs of a much broader audience with ACT and SAT prep, exploring careers, Elementary, Middle, and High School resources, resources our spanish speaking population, etc.

It seems to me that the resources found at Ohio Means Jobs are a fraction of what can be found at Learning Express and thus can not possibly fill the void.

Is it possible that I am missing a link on Ohio Means Jobs that leads to more of the traditional Learning Express resources or is "what you see is what you get"? If not, I don't see how "our patrons will still have access to this resource, even if the means to getting it will change"

Thanks for the clarification, Stephen- glad our patrons will still have access to this resource, even if the means to getting it will change.

Remember, it's here, and will stay here:

What goes away after August 9 is this:

...and similar access points currently available through OhioLINK (which includes the State Library) and INFOhio.

Stephen Hedges has confirmed what I had feared, that we will lose the Assessment and Training component of Learning Express Hub as it appears on the Workforce Skills for the 21st Century and via The State Library of Ohio.

In a time when the governor and legislature is pushing retraining and improving job skills, it just does not make sense to drop this database. Our rural community depends on access to these training tools to hone skills in everything from computer use to studying for college prep tests to training for certification in a number of fields.

When we provide computer training, we highlight these resources and folks are thrilled to learn about them. We will be hard-pressed to find resources as organized and as easily navigable as these are.

If anyone has any insights to another resource (besides YouTube and googling for training materials), please let me know. I am very disappointed at the loss of this database.
