[OPLINLIST] Ohio State Parks SRP certificate (also State Fair and Ren Fest)

Good morning,

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation, is again providing a discount certificate for camping at the State Parks as an incentive to support public library summer reading programs.

At your library's discretion, any SRP participant of any age may receive a certificate for 50% off Sunday-Wednesday camping and 10% off Thursday-Saturday (good through October 31, 2015).  Some restrictions apply.  Please carefully review the instructions on the certificate.

ODNR made several changes to this incentive, based on librarian feedback.  New this year: certificate holders MAY RESERVE their campsites!  Also, the certificate is now good 7 days a week, with a reduced discount on weekends.  Campers may use the coupon for up to 14 consecutive days.  Holiday weekends are excluded.  The certificate is good for camping only, not Unique Rentals.  There is a standard reservation fee of $8 for all State Parks reservations, and the discount does not apply to this fee.  Walk-in campers do not pay this fee.

The certificates print 2 per page.  Please copy them onto standard GREEN copier paper.  State Parks employees will only accept certificates on green paper.  You may write your library name onto your master before copying for distribution.  The participant's name should be hand-written on the certificate.

Libraries distributing this incentive will be asked to report the number of certificates distributed.  Plan to track your library's distribution, so the State Library can report back to ODNR.  Thank you.

Other statewide SRP incentives:

The Ohio Renaissance Festival, held weekends from September 5 - October 25, is supporting libraries and readers by offering coupons for 50% off gate admission for SRP participants of any age.  Any library may distribute the coupons, but you must request the coupons in advance, by mail, and Ren Fest will send them to you.  They will send any quantity you request.  To request coupons for your summer readers, download the form here:

Complete the form and send it to the address listed by April 15.  Your coupons will be shipped to you by June 1.

The Ohio State Fair continues its longstanding coupon good for $4 off gate admission for children/youth ages 5-14 (State Fair admission is free for children under age 5).

This year, make your copies on standard YELLOW copier paper.   State Fair employees will only accept yellow SRP coupons at the gate.

Libraries distributing this incentive will be asked to report the number of vouchers distributed.  Plan to track your library's distribution for the 2015 Ohio SRP Evaluation, so the State Library can report back to the Ohio State Fair.

These statewide SRP incentives are available to all Ohio public libraries, regardless of whether you use the CSLP theme.  You may distribute them as step prizes, completion prizes, enrollment incentives, or however works best for you.  Given that all of them are time-sensitive, I suggest giving them out earlier rather than later, but not before the start of your SRP.  Thank you.
