[cid:image002.jpg at 01D15E80.1D07F2A0]<http://guidingohioonline.org/>The State Library of Ohio is pleased to announce applications are now being accepted to host an AmericCorps member during the third year of the Guiding Ohio Online program.  Members will serve in selected libraries during the 2016-2017 program year. AmeriCorps members will assist libraries with computer instruction, technology-focused community outreach, hands-on help, and other technology-related duties. Program activities are primarily in the areas of workforce enhancement and digital literacy. The State Library's Guiding Ohio Online<http://guidingohioonline.org/> initiative, which targets populations in rural Ohio, helps Ohioans develop digital skills needed to fully participate in e-government, search and apply for jobs online, understand the risks and benefits of online financial services, connect with family online, and protect personal information in the digital age.  "Guiding Ohio Online is a very successful program as evidenced by feedback from libraries and program participants.  Public libraries have become central to digital literacy training and workforce development efforts, which often go hand-in-hand in their communities," said State Librarian Beverly Cain.  "This program helps libraries meet these needs in a way they could not have without having AmeriCorps members onsite to provide critical training and support."

Libraries that wish to participate in this program must provide a small matching fund to secure either a full-time AmeriCorps member (1700 hours in the 11-month term) or part-time AmeriCorps member (900 hours in the 11-month term).

Part-time: Library match is $1250.00

Full-time: Library match is $2500.00

Guiding Ohio Online AmeriCorps members serve an 11-month term, tentatively scheduled to begin September 19, 2016. An application for libraries new to the program is available here<http://guide.webkits.oplin.org/sites/default/files/Site%20application2016-2017.pdf>. Applications are due April 8.
