You've heard of the "Summer Slide"? Now it's time for the Summer SLIP 

Summer Learning Programs (SLP), rather than our traditional Summer Reading Programs, have become the buzzword in public libraries recently. Aren't we all always saying "My library is about more than just books," and aren't we all frustrated with how many patrons don't know about our great databases, or ebooks, or our various download services? Summer Learning Programs are both a way to promote our non-print collections and engage patrons who may not be be big readers (or at least traditional library users). 

We here at SWON were absolutely inspired by a recent presentation from K'Lyn Hann <http://swonlibraries.org/link.asp?e=cassondra@swonlibraries.org&job=2280109&ymlink=4606916&finalurl=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutu%2Ebe%2Fbdg3QJCkcfA> , a Teen Librarian from Oregon, about her spin on the SLP concept called "SLIP," which stands for "Summer Library/Learning Interaction Program." And since this year is twenty6TEEN <http://swonlibraries.org/link.asp?e=cassondra@swonlibraries.org&job=2280109&ymlink=4606916&finalurl=http%3A%2F%2Fswonlibraries%2Eorg%2F%3Fpage%3Dtwenty6teen> , our "year of the teen," we wanted to provide you with the opportunity to use this great program with your library's teens.
