Tiffin-Seneca Public Library is looking for a Full-time Teen Librarian.

As part of the Adult Services team, this staff member acts as the library's primary provider of teen services, including collection development and programming. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teen literature and services, fun, hardworking, responsible, creative, and compassionate.

Starting wage: $16.00 - $16.50 per hour, with a range of benefits available including major medical insurance.

Essential Functions
* Provides direct services to the library's teen patrons, including Reference and Readers' Advisory. Fosters and encourages library use for youth of all ages and reading levels, especially teens.
* Develops, maintains, and weeds the teen collection under the guidance and direction of the Adult Services Manager.
* Develops, implements, and evaluates programming for teens. Coordinates and oversees the teen summer reading program, the activities of the Teen Advisory Board, and a regular slate of area school visits.
* Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with community organizations and area schools.
* Creates and maintains displays targeted at teens.
* Regularly works at the Adult Services desk, providing Reference and Readers' Advisory services, assisting patrons with computers and digital devices, and training patrons in the use of library resources.
* Performs adult collection development activities, develops and implements adult programs, creates adult book displays, and teaches public classes as assigned.
* Actively promotes library services, programs, and materials to the public and other staff members.

Required Competencies
* Ability to create a comfortable, engaging, and professional rapport with teens.
* Exercises sound professional judgment.
* High level of familiarity with teen literature and media.
* Ability to develop working relationships within the community, work collaboratively with others, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to manage time well, work independently, accurately, and with attention to detail.
* Self-motivated, organized, effective, and efficient.
* Retain, follow, and explain organizational procedures, processes, policies, and operations.
* Commitment to on-going professional development and skill acquisition.
* Familiarity with current professional practices and trends, a variety of technologies and social media platforms, and important print and online resources.
* High level of comfort using and explaining common technologies, software, and hardware, including eReader devices.

An MLIS from an ALA accredited school and a valid driver's license are required. Candidates must be available to work evenings and weekends. Candidates must also be willing to travel locally as well as attend meetings in the region and within the state.

This position requires the ability to lift up to forty pounds on an occasional basis, as well as the ability to frequently bend, stretch, reach, and maneuver loads on book carts. This position requires extended periods of both sitting and standing.

Position contingent upon successful completion of a state and national background check and satisfactory performance during a probationary period of 90 days.

Position available immediately due to a staff member's relocation.
