Catalog Librarian
This position is responsible for creating catalog/metadata records that
efficiently and effectively link patrons to the books, movies, music, and
other items in the library’s collections.  Other responsibilities include
acquisitions/processing tasks as well as serving patrons at the Information
Desk.

users about basic computer skills and more techie things.

Essential Functions:
• Complete both copy cataloging and original cataloging records for the SEO
consortium, maintaining a high and consistent degree of accuracy and
quality.
• Catalog items in a variety of formats, including local history materials
and ephemera.
• Perform serials check-in, linking and processing, including completing
annual serials renewal.
• Perform processing of new materials to make them shelf-ready (adding
spine labels, barcodes, book covers, etc. as needed).
• Provide regular coverage in public service area, including nights and
weekends.
• Assist with digitation efforts as needed.
• Recommend workflow and collection maintenance improvements with a goal to
improve speed and efficiency.
• Assist manager with making cataloging decisions.
• Assist with acquisitions processes as needed, particularly when
Acquisitions Clerk is away from the library.
• Manage monthly catalog maintenance reporting and workflows.
• Handle physical aspects of the position that include but are not limited
to sitting, standing, bending, stooping, moving, reaching, pushing/pulling
loaded book carts, manual dexterity required for computer work, and lifting
up to 35 pounds.
• Support special projects as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree and 2 years of practical experience in cataloging.
• Successful experience in cataloging within the SEO consortium preferred.
• Knowledge of MARC, DDC, AACR2, RDA, and OCLC bibliographic utilities.
• Knowledge of CONTENTdm and working with metadata preferred.
• Experience using Sirsi-Dynix WorkFlows ILS catalog module preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

Department: Information & Adult Services

Reports to: Deputy Director

Compensation Package:
Full-time 37.5 hours per week, including one evening per week and regular
weekend rotation. Work locations vary as needed.  Hourly rate negotiable
DOE.
Benefits include OPERS retirement, vacation/sick/personal time, and
health/dental
coverage.
