Portage County District Library is seeking a forward-thinking leader to become its next Library Director. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to work with a seven-member board and a staff of fifty employees to enhance current services and implement innovative solutions to fit the needs of its diverse communities.



Located in northeastern Ohio, Portage County is within easy driving distance of Cleveland, Akron and Warren. Portage County District Library serves a population of 106,000 residents through its five branch libraries and outreach services. PCDL’s service area includes two cities, four villages and sixteen townships, which encompass nine school districts. Funded through the Public Library Fund, PCDL’s revenues in 2017 were about $2.1 million.



The Portage County District Library Board of Trustees is seeking a Director who:

  *   is committed to excellent customer service and can explore new and innovative ways to provide relevant library services

  *   understands the value of being a presence in the community and working with community leaders

  *   can effectively communicate the mission and vision of the Library to a variety of stakeholders

  *   can maintain a supportive work environment for staff development

  *   can advocate for public libraries at the local, state and national levels

  *   is able to prioritize a broad range of responsibilities and apply creative problem solving to challenges facing the Library

  *   has a broad knowledge of all aspects of library operations including administrative, managerial and financial practices for directing a multi-branch library system



Qualifications:

  *   MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited program

  *   5 years with progressive levels of responsibility and applicable administrative experience in a public library



Salary and benefits will be based upon the candidate’s experience and credentials.
