Full-time Pop-up Services Librarian



Position Summary:


The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County is seeking a full-time Pop-up Services Librarian. This position provides leadership, coordination, and accountability for the Library’s Pop-Up Services throughout Mahoning County. This includes identifying sites for Pop-up events, scheduling visits, maintaining the Library’s Pop-up Vehicles. Assists library customers of all ages in the use of library resources, including library technology. Advises customers in selecting and locating materials in all formats to meet their informational, educational and recreational needs. Answers and/or facilitates customer reference questions, and participates in programming both within the unit and off-site. Serves as a strong advocate for the library by promoting all library services.


Requirements:


Master’s Degree in Library Science is required. Several years of professional experience in delivering programs and services to all ages. Knowledge of books, authors, movies and music is required. Substantial knowledge of resources for youth, as well as current library principles, methods and practices. Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and a clean driving record. Travel throughout the county for community outreach events and other library business is required regularly.  Ability to safely operate a library vehicle.  Ability to provide appropriate guidance and direction to support Pop-up services by developing, implementing, and organizing a variety of outreach efforts to customers of all ages, in conjunction with Library goals. Majority of work is performed in, but not limited to, the community. Availability for extended or non-traditional hours (including evenings and Saturdays), participation, and attendance at promotional events and off-site meetings required.



Annual starting salary is $43,524 with an excellent fringe benefit package which includes pension plan with the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
