Change is Hard
Learn how to cope with change on Thursday, October 24, 2019 <https://mms.neo-rls.org/Calendar/moreinfo.php?eventid=53225> at the Twinsburg Public Library with presenter, Marti Peden.
Change has become a part of everyday working life, yet how those changes are managed on a personal basis and how our own personal attitudes to change are intrinsically linked is not always easy to understand. This workshop teaches how to handle transitional periods of change with less disruption and sustained productivity. This program addresses the human side of change which is more complex and harder to achieve.
For more than 30 years, Marti Peden has been a trainer, facilitator, speaker and organizational development professional. She specializes in conflict resolution, managing change, strategic planning, team building and positive approaches to life’s challenges.
OhioDIG is Looking for Presenters

Date: January 22, 2020 in SLO Lucas Room (formerly Room D)
Theme: Leveraging Repositories for Digital Projects
OhioDIG is looking for those interested in presenting on the theme of "Leveraging Repositories for Digital Projects." Have you used your digital library or repository to build a data visualization, an interactive tool, to automate a task, or to expose your collections outside of a typical search interface? They would like to hear from you! They're interested to see what colleagues are doing with their digital assets after they've been uploaded and how they can be the basis for new and interesting projects.
They are actively seeking panelists for this meeting, if interested please send a brief description (one paragraph) on how you and your organization fit the presentation theme to John Dewees ( john.dewees at toledolibrary.org<mailto:john.dewees at toledolibrary.org>).
Deadline: January 10, 2020

A Note from the Executive Director
[https://myneotoday.org/photos/35223_01302017091627.jpg]Last week at the OELMA Conference I met with a Curator from the Miami University Art Museum who was there to present a session on a traveling exhibition devoted to African-American children’s picture books. Because of my museum background and my love of children’s books, I ended up talking with him before the session and wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know that the exhibition is available on loan to public and school libraries. Funded by a grant from the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation in Cleveland, it is entitled, “Telling a People’s Story,” and consists of panels featuring art produced for children’s book illustrations. The traveling exhibition also provides additional resources and program suggestions around the topic. The panels are colorful and engaging and contain context for the different periods of time and creativity that are represented. This is an amazing opportunity for the schools and libraries in our region and I hope you will visit their website <https://blogs.miamioh.edu/tellingapeoplesstory/traveling-panel-exhibition/> for more information and to schedule the exhibition for your community.

Hosting a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon in Your Library
From YOUR Desktop on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 10 am - 11 am.<https://mms.neo-rls.org/Calendar/moreinfo.php?eventid=52977>

In this webinar, you will learn the basics for holding a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon in your library. Edit-a-thons are a great programming activity for adults, or an opportunity to partner with a local organization. The presenter will share what worked and what didn’t from two separate editing events.

Learning objectives:

  *   Create/define a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
  * Prepare and plan for the event
  * Conduct and evaluate the event
Presenter: Beth Owens is the Research & Scholarly Communications Librarian in the Ingalls Library at the Cleveland Museum of Art. In her role she liaises with several different departments within the museum, and serves as a personal librarian for graduate students enrolled in the Joint Program in Art History and Museum Studies with Case Western Reserve University. Beth has a BA in Art History from Northwestern University, and an MLIS from Kent State University.
