Voting for the Buckeye Children’s and Teen Book Awards is now open! Ballots are on the BCTBA website: www.bcbookaward.info<http://www.bcbookaward.info/>.
You may direct children and teens directly to this link where Ohio students in grades K-12 can register their votes:

Librarians and teachers may collect votes on behalf of their students, TAB/TAG, program attendees, library users, etc. Librarians and teachers should submit those votes here:

Ballot bookmarks are available for you to download, print, and distribute to students – but remember, their vote doesn’t count until it’s submitted via one of the two links above. You may choose to keep a jar at the desk, or make a ballot box as part of a library display, and have students complete and turn in their votes – then you add them up and submit then using the teacher/librarian form. Voting is open from September 1 – November 10. The lists of nominated books are on the bookmarks, on the student voting page, and here: www.bcbookaward.info/current-nominees<http://www.bcbookaward.info/current-nominees>. Put together a display, or just spread the word among the children and teens at your library.

As students vote this fall, they can also nominate new books that they are reading now. Nominations for the 2020 awards are being accepted until March 10, 2020. Books published in 2018 and 2019 are eligible.


The Buckeye Book Award program is Ohio's statewide reader's choice award for students in grades K-12, empowering Ohio’s students to commend their favorite books.

BCTBA is designed to encourage children in Ohio to read literature critically, to promote teacher and librarian involvement in children's literature programs, and to commend authors of such literature. It was established in 1981 and is a collaborative effort of the Ohio Literacy Association, the Ohio Educational Library Media Association, the Ohio Council of Teachers of English Language Arts, the Ohio Library Council, the Kent State University iSchool, and the State Library of Ohio.
