A Note from the Executive Director, Betsy Lantz
[https://neo-rls.org/photos/59194_02102020090245.jpg]Whew! I don't know about you but the last couple of weeks have left me feeling a bit dazed. I read a statement the other day that said, "Repetition gives us security, while variation provides zest." Under normal circumstances I would agree with that statement. However, under these new circumstances, variation has led to fatigue and anxiety. Whether you have all of your family at home with you or all of your family spread all over the country as I do, whether you have too much work, too little work or none at all, we are all experiencing new stressors in our lives. And, as we look forward to a minimum of another 4 weeks of the Stay at Home order, it is imperative that we take the topic of our own, and others, mental health seriously. With that in mind, we are creating a resource page for our website which will offer a variety of tips and strategies for taking care of ourselves and those around us. We will also feature a popular self-care and positivity archived webinar, Maintaining a Peaceful Attitude, <https://mms.neo-rls.org/Calendar/moreinfo_responsive.php?eventid=57183&org_id=NEOL> on April 13th. As a special treat for an end of week pick-me-up, we will be bringing you a live yoga session at 1:00 each Thursday beginning April 16th. Lastly, we are busily working out the details to host a couple of informal conversations facilitated by mental health professionals and focused on the stressors that library staff are currently facing. Please keep checking the calendar on our homepage for those dates and times and register to join us. We really are all in this together.

Archived Webinars Available for Mobile Devices
We have been working hard to make many of our popular archived webinars available for viewing on mobile devices. Although the conversion of the webinars happens in real time, thus limiting the number we can do each day, we are adding more and more and will continue to take your requests for the archived webinars you need to access. Here is a list of archived webinars now available on your mobile device. This list is also available on our homepage under Recent News along with the answers to Frequently Asked Questions <https://neo-rls.org/news_manager.php?page=21770> regarding the archived webinars. Contact Holly Klingler <mailto:Holly%20Klingler at neo-rls.org> if the webinar you want to view does not appear on this list.

Breath by Breath: Dealing with Anxiety through Yoga
Join us on Thursday, April 16th<https://mms.neo-rls.org/Calendar/moreinfo_responsive.php?eventid=57176&org_id=NEOL> for our first of four webinars.
Approximately 40 million Americans deal with anxiety disorders. Anxiety is a common mental health concern that we are seeing more often. Our brain function remains the same but our lifestyles keep taking on more and more stress, just like what is happening during the current COVID-19 crisis. Yoga helps to reduce anxiety by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system or the "rest and digest" system.

Learning Objectives

  * How Yoga/Meditation help to reduce anxiety
  *   Breath Control for anxiety
  *   The Basics of Mindfulness
Presenter: Vanessa Blair Farris uses yoga to soothe the mind and the body. Vanessa has a passion for helping people with anxiety, depression, and PTSD. She has spent countless hours educating herself on trauma-sensitive yoga methods, attending online summits for trauma sensitivity, as well as learning the fundamentals of yoga and meditation to help those that are struggling.
