A Note from the Executive Director
[https://neo-rls.org/photos/59194_02102020090245.jpg]

T here is so much to learn and think about as we enter into increasingly challenging conversations regarding diversity, equity and inclusion within our institutions and workplaces. As we become more and more immersed in understanding our own conscious and unconscious biases it is equally important to continue increasing our knowledge of the systemic reasons behind why some lives have come to matter less. Our upcoming program, Whose Lives Matter<http://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=39471501&nr=5173106943>, on Thursday, October 1st , will provide an opportunity for you to increase your knowledge and understanding of race relations within the United States and the meaning and benefit of diversity within the workplace. Participants will have the opportunity for facilitated and confidential conversation around the intent of the Black Lives Matter/All Lives Matter debate and brainstorm ideas for bridging the gap. In order to provide the optimal experience for all participants, we are asking that you register for this program only if you are able to attend the live virtual event. There are still seats left and we hope you will join us for this important conversation. Have a great week and stay well!

>From the State Library
When budgets are cut or a community is in need, libraries often demonstrate their value by working hard to add more services and more workload to their already full plates. Rarely is there a discussion about eliminating services, optimizing the assets of staff, or advocacy for staff well-being and safety. Learning how to advocate for yourself, your team, and your library is a critical conversation <http://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=39497163&nr=5173106943> we must have to discuss and reflect thoughtfully about the profession and work to make it better...
The State Library of Ohio is pleased to announce a new grant program for libraries enabling them to digitize and create new collections for the Digital Public Library of America <http://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=39508161&nr=5173106943> . Through work with Ohio Digital Network <http://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=39509383&nr=5173106943> , Ohio's DPLA Hub, and support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services <http://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=39510605&nr=5173106943> , libraries who are not currently contributing to DPLA can apply for up to $4,999 to remediate metadata for collections that have already been digitized and create new digital collections.
