The 2020 Ohio Summer Library Program Evaluation survey closes in a week! Approximately 65 Ohio public libraries have not yet participated. If yours is one of them, please complete the survey by October 5:

Please complete this survey and share your library's story of summer 2020, even if participation in your summer library program was very limited, and even if you didn't offer a summer library program at all. Around Ohio and the USA, libraries are reporting an average of 10-25% of ordinary SLP/SRP participation. This year, the numbers don't tell your story. Your story is how you provided library service to your community in the midst of a pandemic. Complete the Ohio SLP Evaluation survey so we can document, share, and discuss this one-of-a-kind summer, and tell stakeholders and decision-makers how Ohio public libraries supported their communities safely and thoughtfully during the public health emergency.

The 2021 CSLP "Tails & Tales" program manual will be distributed next week to a youth services/SLP contact person at each of Ohio's 251 public library systems. I sent an email to these contact people on July 7, with details about the forthcoming manual. This year, given the many uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, LSTA funds were used to purchase access codes for the 2021 online CSLP "Tails and Tales" manual for every Ohio public library location. The online manual contains everything found on the USB and paper manuals, and more.

If your library has a new contact person to receive CSLP manuals since this time last year, please indicate this on your Ohio SLP evaluation survey, or email me the name and email address of the current contact person. Thank you.

This Friday is the last day to volunteer to serve on a Collaborative Summer Library Program committee for 2021. If you work at an Ohio public library, you are eligible. While the duties vary, committee obligations generally run for one calendar year. An individual may participate on up to 2 CSLP committees at a time.

CSLP committee participation is a professional involvement opportunity with national impact. You will meet and collaborate with other public library workers from across the USA, and will make a positive difference for libraries and communities nationwide.
