American Alliance of Museums (AAM) Anti-LGBTQ+ Backlash Response Kit Project

The AAM LGBTQ+ Alliance’s Trans Inclusion Committee is kicking off a new project, an Anti-LGBTQ+ Backlash Response Kit. We are looking for individuals/institutions that have experienced and had to respond to anti-LGBTQ+ backlash within recent years to provide guidance for institutions that are facing or expect to face backlash for supporting the LGBTQ+ community. This guide will include experiences and insights from institutions that have experienced anti-LGBTQ+ backlash, as well as recommendations and best practices from multidisciplinary literature (public safety, emergency response, de-escalation tactics, crisis communications).

If have experience(s) that you would be willing to share in the form of an interview, please contact Melanie McGurr (mmcgurr1 at uakron.edu<mailto:mmcgurr1 at uakron.edu>) by September 15th. Please feel free to share this with colleagues outside of NEO-RLS.

Public Library and School Partnerships Survey

One of the most common requests from STAR Net Partner Libraries is "can you help us partner with our local school?" ALA has some good resources HERE<https://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=227613065&mm=81665058453> and ALSC even has a list of successful partnerships you can view HERE<https://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=227614287&mm=81665058453>. We also know that Community Dialogues<https://mms.neo-rls.org/ct.php?lid=227615509&mm=81665058453> are an especially meaningful way to identify goals for collaboration in your community.

But what happens when that doesn't work? We don't know! Take the survey below to help us learn more, as we continue to find new and improved ways to support the library community! Your participation will directly impact future STAR Net proposals, workshops, papers, and training opportunities. Click the link below to take the survey.
