face=Arial>The dust has settled, the water has subsided, or the smoke has
dissipated. Now what? Disasters can strike at any time and place. Having a staff
that knows what to do before, during and after such an event can help lessen
panic and enable everyone to work together toward an organized recovery. Dave
Mezack, Operations Coordinator, Clermont County Public Library and Jan Haines,
Library Development Consultant, the State Library of Ohio will discuss the steps
you can take in advance to lessen the potential effects of disasters on your
libraries. Assessing your facilities, the necessary elements of a good plan and
technology issues are some of the areas that will be addressed to help you
prepare effective responses now - while you're not in a crisis. Whether your
library is working on a disaster preparedness plan or has one in place, we
encourage you to attend and share your experiences during the later portion of
this workshop when Susan Hagloch, Director of Tuscarawas County Public Library;
Dan Suvak, Director of Walsh University Library; Jean Kindry, Director of Canal
Fulton Public Library, and Kent Oliver, Director of Stark County District
Library, offer roundtable discussion on their plans. </FONT></SPAN></P>
