Many children with this type of disorder are fed through feeding tubes (mine is not). You can search for information about it at the APFED foundation (<a href="http://www.apfed.org">www.apfed.org</a>) as they will probably have support materials about feeding tubes and those living with them. In addition, there are a variety of other conditions that cause children to need feeding tubes and there are a variety of support groups on line for them. There are a couple of children's book that discusses the issues, also - for example, <a

Honestly, this child needs to be under the care of a professional therapist and nutritionist to help deal with the very real issues that come from needing a feeding tube.</span></div><div><span></span> </div><div><span>To the best of my knowledge, there are no real good books out there that deal with the issue you are inquiring about. Can you be more specific about the age of the son in question? How young is young? I can put out a request for information on a support forum I know of, but more information about age would be

patron does not give you a specific diagnosis - is to search for info about the original medical situation. The son had a feeding tube in childhood (although we don't know how long ago that was). Look for information about "feeding tubes" and "children". </font></div>
<div style="margin-top: 5pt; margin-bottom: 5pt;"><font color="#0000ff">I second Lynne Welch's suggestions of MedlinePlus and NetWellness (folks can search their Q & A archive or submit an anonymous question that will be answered.) Another way to go is to
use Google Advanced and limit the domain to .edu. You'll find patient education from academic medical centers this way. </font></div>
<div style="margin-top: 5pt; margin-bottom: 5pt;"><font color="#0000ff">Most overview articles will discuss risks as well as prognosis for coping after the tube is removed. Kids who have tubes often have them as babies or in toddler hood so a major challenge
is to help them transition to oral feeding while at the same time learn how to eat solid food, which they may never have tasted. I've often seen the phrase "encouragement feeding" in regard to this process and it involves the child learning what feeling full
is like when eating normally, i.e. not on a tube. Of course, the family should be encouraged to ask their doctor for a referral to a licensed therapist/nutritionist who can assist the child.<font color="#000000" size="3" face="Times New Roman, serif"> </font></font></div>

<div style="margin-top: 5pt; margin-bottom: 5pt;"><font size="3" face="Times New Roman, serif">Had a patron in today looking for information on childhood eating disorder....specifically a disorder that is, as the father described it, "the I'm full button being
broken". He has a young son who evidentally had medical issues early on and was fed through a tube. As he describes it, the child now does not know the sensation of "being full" when eating regular food...will eat often to the point of passing out. </font></div>
<div style="margin-top: 5pt; margin-bottom: 5pt;"><font size="3" face="Times New Roman, serif">Of course, we had nothing here, and mostly what I have found searching on-line are medical journals. Any wisdom as to websites or books that are not medical textbooks
that I could direct him to? </font></div>
