ILEAD U was designed to help library staff understand and respond to user needs through the application of participatory technology tools and the creation of an easy-to-replicate model program. While the 2010 cohort was limited to Illinois library staff, in 2011 librarians from other state libraries, including Katie Campbell, State Library of Ohio Public Library Consultant, traveled to Springfield to take part in ILEAD U.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'>"In ILEAD U, the Illinois State Library created a truly remarkable program which allowed participants to learn about technology, project management, leadership, needs assessment and project implementation strategies," expressed Campbell. "I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to be able to observe such a wonderful program and interact with such amazing and innovative librarians."<o:p></o:p></span></p><p><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'>The State Library of Ohio is pleased to announce that the Illinois State Library has received a $470,000 Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to expand ILEAD U nationwide. Next year, ILEAD U becomes ILEAD USA. Twenty-eight five-member teams in Illinois, Colorado, Iowa, Ohio, and Utah will attend three three-day, in-person sessions over the course of nine months. These teams will consist of librarians from different libraries and different types of libraries working together to help their patrons. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'>ILEAD USA will be held <strong><span style='font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'>March 25–28</span></strong>, <strong><span style='font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'>June 17–20</span></strong>, and <strong><span style='font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'>October 21–24, 2013</span></strong>.
