State Library staff believes that library consortia represent best practices in collaboration, cost-savings, and resource sharing. The special grant program allowed eligible libraries to apply for up $33,000 in federal funds. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'>Since the program began, 16 public libraries have received a total of $361,955 in federal funds. Consortia joined included SEO, SearchOhio, and the Ohio Valley Library Consortium (OVLC). Additionally, a grant in the amount of $108,193 was awarded to the Community Public Library of Sunbury to form the COOL consortium using the Open Source Evergreen software. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'> <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic","sans-serif"'>The original program announcement indicated that funds would be available for two years. The ILS Automation grants will no longer be funded after the December 2012 State Library Board meeting.
