<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto">The Museum Origins course offered by the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at Kent State University is now accepting applications for the eight-week, summer 2013
class, which includes two weeks in Florence, Italy, visiting museums and learning about the collectors and collections from which they evolved. The three-credit course is open to graduate (master’s and doctoral) students in any field, from any institution.
Admission to the course is competitive; only 15 students will be accepted. Application materials and additional details are available at

<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto">“You should
<i>never</i> post, e-mail, Tweet, text or capture information that you do not want other people to see in the future,” Timothy M. Opsitnick, Esq., senior partner and general counsel of JurInnov Ltd., told students in the School of Library and Information Science
(SLIS) at Kent State University. Opsitnick delivered a guest lecture in November titled “eDiscovery and Computer Forensics,” for the Foundations and Modern Administration of Archives class taught by SLIS adjunct instructor Roland M. Baumann. He offered a general
overview of electronic communication issues as they relate to litigation, such as what is electronic discovery and when is it required, what is computer forensics, what is a litigation hold on electronically stored information (ESI), and what are some general

<u>Alumni News and Updates<o:p></o:p></u></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><b>Gary Gorka, M.L.S. ’96,</b> San Rafael, Calif., has been serving as executive director of the Archbishop Alemany Library, Dominican University of California, since 2007, and
recently assumed the position of University Librarian, serving on Dean's Council and reporting to the provost. The library has a total staff of 13 with six faculty librarians involved primarily in information literacy instruction, research assistance, faculty
liaison work and electronic resource development. It has recently completed a technology merger with the public libraries in Marin County, California, to create a fully shared academic-public catalog and borrowing consortium. He says he has always enjoyed
academic librarianship, teaching and technology and is having a good time helping create a high-tech, high-touch library for the students. Next year the library building celebrates its 50th anniversary and will be embarking on a fundraising campaign to modernize
the facility.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><b>Judy Griggs, M.L.I.S. ’07,</b> Stow, Ohio, is the medical librarian in the Family Resource Center at Akron Children's Hospital in Akron, Ohio.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><b>Jeff Zarate, M.L.I.S. '09,</b> Columbus, Ohio, is an Archives Project member at the Harding Heritage Foundation, which preserves the history of Harding Medical Center, Worthington
Foods, and promotes psychiatric and nutritional wellness in the central Ohio area. The project is currently organizing archival materials for cataloging using PastPerfect5 software. Jeff's involvement has been on the technical side, installing the software
on new computers, sorting and organizing files and assisting in the policy formulation, and inputting data into the catalog.<o:p></o:p></p>
