        Whether we’re calming a patron frustrated by fines or assisting a 
harried student searching for sources, library work is full of emotion. 
 But what toll can this ‘need to be nice’ have on library staffers?  Dr.
 Miriam Matteson, a Kent State SLIS faculty member, and OHIONET’s own 
Shelly Miller are conducting research on this very topic—the requirement
 to display organizationally-prescribed emotions and the strategies used
 to meet those expectations—and are eager to share their findings and 
facilitate discussions among practitioners.</p>
