Her visit marks the second installment in the library’s 2013 Visiting Author Series. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=Default><span style='font-size:10.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Keller was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia. Her career in journalism included posts at the <i>Columbus Dispatch</i> and the <i>Chicago Daily Tribune</i>, where she won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing for her coverage on the deadly Utica, Illinois, tornado outbreak. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>She is currently the <span style='color:black;background:white'>Scripps Howard Visiting Professional </span>at Ohio University in Athens. She previously taught at Princeton University, Ohio State University, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Chicago. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=Default><span style='font-size:10.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><i><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>A Killing in the Hills</span></i><b><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'> </span></b><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>(Minotaur, 2012) is Keller’s first piece of fiction. In it, three elderly men are gunned down over their coffee at a local diner in Acker’s Gap, West Virginia, and seemingly half the town is there to witness the shooting. Still, no one seems to have gotten a good look at the shooter. Was it random? Was it connected to drug violence? Or were the three men targeted somehow? <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><i><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Publisher’s Weekly</span></i><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'> calls Keller’s fiction debut “outstanding,” while <i>Booklist</i> calls it “as suspenseful and entertaining as it is accomplished.” <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=Default><span style='font-size:10.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=Default><span style='font-size:10.0pt'>The event is free and open to the public.
