<p><strong>Sometimes you hear an idea for a library program, and you
instantly don’t want to do it.</strong> Not because it’s a bad idea, but
because it doesn’t fit your library or your patrons (or your budget).
But with a few minor modifications, you’ve got a new program ready to
add to the schedule.<br>

that perfectly match your needs, but they do bring fresh ideas and
fresh perspectives.</strong> And they give you the opportunity to share

Services</a> (TeS) SIG.</strong> This newly-formed group will take on
all areas of Tech Services, from acquisitions to cataloging, processing,
and more. Its <a
href="http://oh.evanced.info/swon/lib/eventsignup.asp?ID=634">first
meeting is September 18th</a> at the Boone County Public Library, where
they’ll discuss ways to catalog non-traditional “stuff.” Read about them
on our calendar, then add their meeting to yours.<br>

<p>When there are emails you need to write, do you remember them at
the wrong time? In the shower, or a random moment over the weekend? You
can help your memory by setting aside a time to review emails.<br>

<p>As you get emails through the week, don’t just leave ones that need
a response in your inbox. Put them together in a folder. That way you
don’t have to hunt through other emails to find them. Give yourself a
set time to review them each week, and you won’t suddenly wonder what
email you forgot as you’re switching off the light.<br>

Symposium: Triage</h2>
<p>Patrons bring us their problems, and a wide variety of them, too.
Sometimes they have problems with technology–with their laptops or
e-readers. But sometimes patrons themselves need help. When that’s the
case, we can help with that, too. Whether it’s connecting a patron to
local resources or responding to physical or mental crisis, <strong>this
year’s Staff Training Symposium will help you triage immediate issues
and help patrons work toward lasting solutions.<br>
