this week we had tornado warning alerts go off while we had two programs happening. About half the patrons left and the rest headed to our area of refuge. Many trickled out as the tornado warnings kept getting extended. Finally, the warning was extended to
10:00 p.m. and we still had about a dozen patrons stay until that time. They were very grateful.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

have to take shelter. We usually try to have the weather radar up on a computer in the shelter area so that we can see when the warning is lifted. It also often helps to settle folks who don't want to shelter if they can see the warning on the screen.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

We do PA announcements and move all staff and patrons to shelter. We implore folks not to leave the building, but we have no legal authority to stop them if they choose to leave.<br>

We just leave everything in place: we treat it like a fire evacuation. As you can imagine, we take tornados super-seriously here in Xenia, and we've never had any getting folks to shelter or with theft during an emergency.<br>
