<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">We have iPads in one of our children’s departments loaded with early literacy apps. Policy isn’t really going to solve the problem of patrons doing things with the devices that you don’t want them to do.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">There are tools you can use though. We have used the restrictions in the settings to try to limit what patrons can access, but it has been challenging and we haven’t been able restrict access to certain things
like iMessage for example. We have discovered that the best solution to the problem is to use mobile device management software, and we are currently in the process of trials for two, Airwatch and Maas 360. There are many other products, but those are the
ones on our short list.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">That being said, we do have an Acceptable Use of the Internet and Electronic Resources policy that would apply to patrons using library owned mobile devices,

<p class="MsoNormal">I am looking for ideas on the use of a Technology Petting Zoo with tablets and Kindle/Nook/etc. ereaders. We had devices available all of our open hours.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Some of the devices were hacked and had to be restored. We also had an issue with pornographic downloads. I am hoping to find some examples of library policies that you have used for these devices.<o:p></o:p></p>
