State Board of Education of Ohio recently appointed Terri Fredericka to serve as a member of the State Library Board. Terri has 37 years of experience serving the school library community. She retired in 2020 from the Management Council of Ohio’s Information
Technology Centers (ITCs) after serving as Executive Director of INFOhio since 1996. She helped to drive equity of access to library services and electronic resources for all Ohio’s PreK-12 schools. Terri was a grassroots member leading the establishment of
INFOhio and instrumental in its statewide partnership in Libraries Connect Ohio (LCO). The LCO partners (INFOhio, OhioLINK, OPLIN, and State Library of Ohio) fund and work together to build and provide the Ohio Web Library core collection of information resources.
Under Terri’s direction, the INFOhio program grew from a library automation service to a robust website portal providing tools, professional development, support, and equitable access to statewide databases including the Ohio Web Library.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif">Following her swearing in at the January 21, 2021 State Library Board meeting, Terri expressed, “I am honored and excited to join the State Library of Ohio board. This
agency provides strong leadership, strategic opportunities and innovative services for all Ohio’s libraries, including all PreK-12 schools and their school librarians. Working together with my fellow board members, the State Librarian, and dedicated staff,
I will give my all to help ensure that Ohio’s libraries continue to be remarkably successful.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif">Prior to her work at INFOhio, Terri held positions as Coordinator of Learning Resources at Lakewood City Schools; Consultant, School Libraries for the Ohio Department
of Education, Consultant, School Libraries for the Kentucky Department of Education; Elementary Librarian for Deer Park Community City Schools, and High School Librarian for Findlay City Schools.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif">Terri Fredericka earned a Master of Library Science from the University of Kentucky and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Century Gothic",sans-serif">The State Library of Ohio is governed by a five-member board whose members are appointed to five-year terms or to complete an unexpired term, by the State Board of Education.
Under the Ohio Revised Code, section 3375.01, members of the Board cannot be recent members of the State Board of Education and cannot serve on the Board of Trustees of any other library while on the State Library Board. When a position becomes available
on the Board, the State Library Board sends out a call for nominations to the Ohio Library Community and then forwards two recommendations to the State Board of Education for their consideration.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
