held in Marion Public Library. Speaking Volumes is a fundraising event coordinated by the BookMarks, a separate nonprofit organization devoted to supporting Marion Public Library.</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;line-height:120%;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:windowtext;letter-spacing:-.2pt">
The volunteer-run group raises money through a variety of events, including an annual book sale held at the Library. All proceeds go to support the operations of the Marion Public Library.

<b>$30 ticket </b>can be purchased for just the program and includes dessert. There will be a cash bar available. Copies of select Jane Smiley titles are on sale now.

<i>A Thousand Acres</i>, awarded the Pulitzer Prize, and the Last Hundred Years Trilogy:
<i>Some Luck</i>, <i>Early Warning</i>, and <i>Golden Age</i>. Her newest, released in April 2024, is titled
<i>Lucky.</i> She is the author of several works of nonfiction and books for young adults. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and has received the PEN Center USA Lifetime Achievement Award for Literature. She lives in Northern California.
