There's an interesting article in the July 5 "Library
Hotline" that techies might want to look for. (I can't
find the article on-line to point you to). It discusses
the success of two of Howard County's innovative
technology projects: their own customized Linux
distro, and their use of public WiFi in branches.
(Their Linux work fascinates me. I read about it first
here http://www.libraryjournal.com/article/CA406008,
and they sent me a copy of LuMiX 1.3.6...not that I
have the skills to do anything with it).

Listen to this: "The sweetest thing of all--from a
staff perspective--is that each of these public PCs
turns itself on every morning following a network
command, looks for and automatically installs any
upgrades and, at the end of the day, shuts itself
down."

            Regards,
                          Don Yarman
