Just to clarify, I got my first Mac in 1983--yes 1983--and I accept that
the Mac is more of a religion than a computer. Some of us will tell you
that the IIgs is the computer the Mac should have been, but these were
battles fought long before many of you were born LOL.
But, at $1,550 for a nice G5 and a few hundred more for Office, I still
think you need to ask why you're doing this.
Karen makes a good point that it could support a homework program, or
something else the patrons have requested.

Just a couple of thoughts tapped out from my desk using a 12"=20
powerbook.  First, wireless networking and networking in general are=20
quite easy - I've hooked up with just about every type of access point.

And they can communicate with a Windows File and Print Network quite=20
nicely as well.  Basically OS X has a nice GUI interface on top of a=20
customized version of Samba for connecting to Windows.

As far security, I would stick with something like MacSheild from=20
Centurion Technologies http://www.centuriontech.com/dsms-about.htm it=20
works much like their other products preventing users from making=20
permanent changes to the Hard Drive.

I personally appreciate using a Mac when I am at a remote location.  Its

just an environment that I feel more comfortable with, but it's a bit of

a personal thing.

I'm a "switcher" myself (after using Windows/Linux for 6+ years).  And=20
who knows you may really enjoy have a Mac around, they do have their=20
strong points - even past the normal audio/video/photo editing that they

are sometimes pigeonholed into.
