Dan
If you use the Microsoft Shard Computer toolkit you get this behavior
when the computer is set to run and install auto updates and the update
fails because the protected user is logged in.
Don't know if it helps, but it may be a clue.

Subject: [OPLINTECH] Disabled user

Folks
I have a computer running Windows XP and the Shared Computer
Toolkit. This computer has one user and an admin account configured.
On two occasions it has been reported that there is no user showing up
on the log on screen. Checking shows that the user account was
disabled. Unlocking the security and enabling the user account and
re-enabling the security brings back to normal. This computer also has
a Centurion Guard installed and active on it. Only software on the
computer is MS Word and a resume program. Any one have any ideas why
this is happening?

Thanks...........
