I know it may be more than you are looking for but Windows Server 2008
will have what is called TS Gateway, it eliminates the need for a VPN
and allow you to RDP into machines on your network

The bits are available on Technet if you have a subscription and will be
publicly available by the end of the month after the launch event.

Check out a piece of software called Smoothwall. They recently released
a new version that has ALOT more features. We are using it here as a
router/firewall, but i know it also does VPN too.

I am looking for a VPN solution that I can run clients from windows
machines and connect to a VPN. Cost is a key factor here so I am looking
for some open source linux firewall/VPN installs. Plus as usual Linux
distributions do not usually require the resources of other solutions. I
really do not need the extra firewall application but need the VPN and
they usually go hand in hand.. Is anyone out there using this type of
configuration?

Thanks
