I also found this blog post that has some info about how linux was used running on a PC with an atom processor for pac stations in a library.

Our library is looking into using Lynix or Ubuntu for our OPAC pc's  -  kiosk mode only. Are there any libraries out there that have used these operating systems in this way or have you used something similar? I believe that the browser Firefox also has a kiosk mode.
