[OPLINTECH] AntiVirus Products

Tom,

We used Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 11 for a while before
upgrading to AVG Business. I didn't feel that the management options for
Symantec were good enough. It was difficult to initiate scans from the
console on a remote computer and hard to find the status of the scan. I
like the AVG console better. I think that AVG uses less resources and
protects better than Symantec. Symantec really seemed to bog down my
systems. The deployment tools for AVG are definitely much better than
Symantec. You can deploy the client to a single system, or pick from
active directory, using the console; or you can create a deployment
script and push it out through Configuration Manager like I do.

AVG is a better price\performance option than Symantec. If I were to
quote the possible downsides, my little annoyance with AVG is that it
seems to always want a system reboot to install new updates, and I try
to limit reboots as much as possible in our environment. Feel free to
contact me via email if you have further questions.

Subject: [OPLINTECH] AntiVirus Products

Greetings:

We are considering our antivirus product options. Currently, we use
Symantec Corporate Edition and plan to upgrade to Endpoint if we renew
our licensing. However, we are also taking this opportunity to see what
else is out there. So far, only AVG Business Edition offers comparable
pricing to what we are now paying for Symantec. Is anyone using AVG
business edition, and if so, can you offer any comments or incites? Is
anyone using another product that they can recommend? A key requirement
for us is centralized deployment and management.

Thanks
