[OPLINTECH] ISA Help

Dear Tyra:

Just a few thoughts,

1. Is ISA server acting as a DNS forwarder? If so is ISA set up to
forward DNS requests to the correct DNS server?

2. Are ports 135, 136, 137 and 445 open on the local network (IE open
on LAN but not WAN??)

3. Is ISA server allowing outbound traffic both TCP and UDP on port 53
for DNS?

4. For your branches, depending on how its set up it may require a
port forward for a static IP? In other words putting the static ip of the
branch as trusted, and allow traffic incoming from that ip to pass on
certain ports?

I am just brain storming here, tossing out a few ideas.perhaps others can
chime in as well.

Best of luck

Subject: [OPLINTECH] ISA Help

Dear Ohio Techies,

We are asking you, the collective tech brains of Ohio, for any ideas you can
come up with.

Our old ISA server, Win server 2000/ISA2003, malfunctioned. CPU fan died.
HP Proliant ML310 G3. We have been unable to find a fan that will work.

Luckily, or not, we had a new ISA box ready to go in. Win server
2003/ISA2006.

We have been able to restore services to our Main Library, but now our
branches will not connect to anything. The network does not see our
branches as internal clients. They cannot connect to Innovative system,
email or network shares internally. It's like they cannot see the Domain,
but we can reach them through PC Anywhere, ping, etc. Can also ping from
the branches back to Main successfully.

We're thinking the problem lies somewhere in DNS, but we can't find
anything. Maybe it's something else?

Anyone willing to take a shot at helping us, my cell no. is 330-770-1952.

Thanks!

Tyra
