I recommend and extensively use DBAN.
It's free, you create a bootable CD, type "autonuke" and an hour later your drive is wiped to DOD standards.
In my Goodwill project we use eBAN and wipe like 12 drives at a time...but it is server based, generates reports and is not free.

I was wondering what software you all are using to scrub private info. from hard
drives of computers being recycled? Free would be great, but something low cost
would work as well.

Thanks in advance.
