[OPLINTECH] Saving and storing patron registrations digitally

As our file drawers fill with paper patron registration cards we're
considering our options for storing these things digitally. We're
picturing a workflow where the patron fills out and signs a
registration card which is then scanned or photographed and the image
is attached to their patron record in our ILS.

Has anyone implemented anything like this? Does anyone have any
experience with single-purpose document scanners which might be
useful?
