[OPLINTECH] Digital Signage

That looks pretty sweet Eric! We may have to look into that.

We have used two different programs, one free and one that is a bit pricey.
The free one you can find at http://xibo.org.uk/. The install process is a
little lengthy - prepare to spend a morning on install and an afternoon
setting everything up how you want it and learning to navigate through the
web UI, but once it is set up, it's quite nice. One advantage with Xibo is
that you can access the web UI from any computer on your local network;
just type in the ip address of the computer with /xibo attached.

The paid solution that we are currently using is Digital Signage Assistant,
which can be found at http://www.bayscan.com/digital-signage-assistant.html.
The only downside with this software is that they are really picky about
the licensing. You can only have one "server" computer on which the actual
signage software runs, and one "client" computer that controls the server
and updates content.

Either of these will do powerpoint presentations quite nicely, and should
even allow for embedded video. You may need to tinker a bit to get all the
effects and animations in powerpoint to work properly. I would personally
recommend Xibo. The time it takes to set it up is well worth the robust web
interface, and being able to access it via any LAN computer is handy. And
of course, it's free!
