Greetings,

The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County<https://www.libraryvisit.org/> (OH) seeks an experienced System Administrator for the Information Technology Department. The System Administrator is responsible for managing the IT department and keeping our present IT services and hardware operating at optimal performance. The System Administrator manages system updates and migrations to new servers, evaluates current technology and technology services, as well as identifies emerging technologies that can benefit the Library. This position also provides direct technical support and training to Library staff on hardware and software issues. The System Administrator acts as a first level supervisor with responsibility for a team and reports to the Technology Director.
Responsibilities. (1) Monitors, maintains, upgrades, and replaces core servers, equipment, and software as needed. (2) Provides direct technical support and training to Library staff on hardware and software issues via phone, email, remote connection and on location. (3) Supervises IT staff: assigns and maintains workflow priorities; creates and updates procedures. (4) Procures services from and liaison with vendors. (5) Provides information, reports, and support to administrative staff.

Qualifications.  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field is required. Work experience in a library setting preferred. Applicants with significant progress completed toward a preferred degree, coupled with relevant library work experience, may also be considered. This position requires an ability to effectively communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents and operate standard business office equipment. Strong computer, analytical thinking, and interpersonal skills are required. Traveling to other library branches in the Mahoning County Library system is also required. Must be available for on-call, extended or non-traditional hours as needed to perform job duties.  Ability to reach, bend, climb, squat, lift and push up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time. Technical experience required:



  *   Experience in networking (WAN/LAN, wireless and telecommunications)
  *   Windows Active Directory Domains and Networking Services
  *   Exchange, SharePoint, VMWare, SQL
  *   Computer and network security and monitoring
  *   Data backup and restoration
  *   Web server configuration
  *   The ability to configure and support  a variety of software, including client/server applications



Compensation.  The starting salary is $42,600 (negotiable with experience) with an excellent fringe benefit package including a pension plan with the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).
