[OPLINTECH] Circulating eReaders and iPads

Hi everyone,

We have some older Kindles, Nooks, and an iPad 2 (circa 2011). They have not circulated much in recent years, but they also have not been advertised much and have been sort of hidden away. Even my staff that were working here in the early 2010s don't remember much about what was done to secure them, though some do recall some issues that arose with them. Does anyone circulate these? Do you have a way to clear out the data/information/passwords that were entered by patrons or prevent patrons from (for example) buying eBooks with the library's Amazon account? These are all things I am concerned about. I know they are about 10 years old and pretty much obsolete now, but they still work. I am weighing if it's worth holding on to them and promoting them, or if it would be too much work to secure them and people wouldn't want to borrow these older devices. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Rebecca
