<P><FONT FACE="Arial">OIT network engineers performed maintenance on the primary and backup Internet border routers.</FONT>
</P>
<BR>
<P><B><FONT FACE="Arial">Outage on June 15, 2004:</FONT></B>
</P>
<P><FONT FACE="Arial">The State of Ohio's OC48 primary Internet connection, at the State of Ohio Computer Center, went down on June 15, 2004 at 11:54 local time due to a Time Warner Telecom configuration error. Our Internet traffic was re-routed to our backup OC12 located at the Rhodes State Office Tower. There was no disruption to our Internet service. At 7:45 local time, on June 16, 2004, Time Warner Telecom resolved their issue and our primary connection was restored. </FONT></P>

<P><B><FONT FACE="Arial">Domain Name System Procedure:</FONT></B>
</P>
<P><FONT FACE="Arial">Effective June 11, 2004 all DNS requests that are received in the Network Operations Center, after 4:00pm, Monday through Friday will be processed the next business day. Any requests received after 4:00pm on Friday will be processed the following business day (Monday) to take effect on Tuesday.</FONT></P>
<P><B><FONT FACE="Arial"> </FONT></B>
<BR><B><FONT FACE="Arial">Non-TCP/IP Protocols:</FONT></B>
</P>
<P><FONT FACE="Arial">Included in the Office of Information Technology’s Long Range Plan is provide a TCP/IP only ohio.gov backbone. Our goal is to remove all Non-TCP/IP protocols (DECnet, SNA, IPX, Appletalk, etc.). OIT network engineers will be contacting agencies, boards and commissions, in the near future, that are still using Non-TCP/IP protocols, to work with them on determining an alternate solution.</FONT></P>
