<LI><SPAN class=918273817-27062007><FONT face=Arial
size=2>Stability.....fair. I have had
several crashes and multiple lock-ups. After a lock-up occurs, you must do a
hard boot (power
off)<BR>
The profile settings (if not in a locked state) become slightly
scrambled and sometimes produces a
2nd<BR>
profile with no start menu or desktop icons.</FONT></SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN class=918273817-27062007><FONT face=Arial
size=2>Speed
Once everything is setup (software and profiles) and is locked, the 1st login
(after any boot) takes an
<BR>
excessive amount of time. Because SS uses a cache file for the profiles,
it must ready the whole thing and
<BR>
</FONT></SPAN><SPAN class=918273817-27062007><FONT face=Arial size=2>put it
into memory. Login took 3-4 minutes on a 2.0gb Core 2 duo with 2 gb ram...WAY
TOO LONG!</FONT></SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN class=918273817-27062007><FONT face=Arial size=2>Ease of
use....fair. The interface looks good (and I do like it a LOT)
but, changing settings or adding programs are a
<BR>
real pain in the posterior. I have had to log off and back on or reboot
on several occasions, when a
<BR>
change should have been a real simple procedure.</FONT></SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN class=918273817-27062007><FONT face=Arial
size=2>Export/Import
This did not prove to be of any real value (at least to me) It creates files
that have the setting for
users<BR>
but does not contain desktop or start menu items (icons) as I had
hoped.</FONT></SPAN></LI>
<LI><SPAN class=918273817-27062007><FONT face=Arial

DO NOT create your user profiles before you install SS. Use SS to create
them.<BR> (You
don't what to have to delete your profiles that you worked hard on like I
did)</FONT></SPAN></LI>

size=2>Conclusion:
I am glad that I did not try to use this on my lab computers. Clunky looking
& buggy as the SCT
is<BR>
I find it easier to use. Maybe I just know it's quirks better. I did NOT try
using
SS <BR>
</FONT></SPAN><SPAN class=918273817-27062007><FONT face=Arial size=2>in a
domain setup. That might prove to be better (maybe someone else will try it
for
us).<BR>
I will wait to see if they come out with any updates for SteadyState before I
install it on anything else.</FONT></SPAN></LI></OL>
