I'd like to mention how awesome this copier is. We've had ours for a year
now and it's just now had it's first servicing for a black streak on the
bottom of the pages.

I use the scan feature all the time, but I've made an instruction sheet for
staff so they don't always have to bug me about how to do it. I have this go
into a share on the server called "SCANS" and gave everyone read permission,
but only I can delete. I go in and delete usually the first of the month or
whenever I feel it's getting full, but it's really not utilized by many,
mainly me. This is a staff use only copier/scanner. Too many bells and
whistles for public use. If they need something scanned, we'll do it, then
we use our email address to email it to a patron. It's easier that way. They
haven't asked for scanning capabilities, so it's a nonissue, really.

Best money we've spent in a long time, in my opinion.

We currently have a SHARP MX-2300N networked Copier/Scanner/Printer, it
allows for scanning to a thumb drive patrons who know how to may use it
and if ask we will do it for them. We do not advertise this service or
charge for it currently, partly do to the limited amount of staff
comfortable using the feature in addition to whether/how to charge for
the service since some patrons know how to do it and just walk up and do it.

> I was just curious if any libraries are currently providing or considering
providing scanning capabilities to the public? I am especially interested
in knowing how you might have dealt with the scan to PDF/email that some
units are capable of.
