I would venture to say what you want to do is almost impossible with iTunes
because of how it handles licensing and attached devices. I built a new
computer for home last year, and when I moved my music files over to the new
machine, iTunes gave me the message that I could only move my purchased music
files to a new computer four more times before I lost access to them. (I was so

the default action iTunes takes with my iPod is to sync up with iTunes and it

plugged in. The options can be changed, but I’m not sure how tricky
