We also use PublicIP for our patron wireless. The only wireless IP that our cymphonix box sees is the one used by PublicIP. We filter all wireless based on that one IP Address. I think that would fix your problem with licenses.

If you didn't want to use PublicIP, you could have your wireless router setup as a DHCP server and the only address that the Cymphonix box would see is the router. So all traffic routed thru that 1 IP would be filtered according to your configuration on the box.

As far as over filtering or under filtering goes, nothing is going to be perfect. The filtering works pretty good for us but there are some false reads and some sites do get thru. You will have that with whatever filtering solution that you choose.
Is anyone using Cymphonix network composer to regulate network traffic
and filter Internet access? We installed one about two years ago and
are interested in hearing about others experiences with the unit.

We are especially interested in:

1) filtering - does it filter enough or too much; are there a lot of
false blocks or do unsuitable sites get through;

2) IP assignment - our current set-up appears to assign a permanent IP
to anyone who logs in to our wireless network which quickly eats up our
user licenses. We have to manually remove the licenses to clear up
access for new users on a regular basis. This doesn't seem right to me.
Surely there is a better way to handle transient users of our network.

Any comments or information would be greatly appreciated. I'll
apologize in advance if I'm not explaining things clearly. I'm just an
old librarian trying my best to keep things running and definitely not
an IT expert.
