It also sounds like you checked the local security policy, but the “Network access: Sharing and security model for local accounts” would produce the behavior you described if it were set to Guest instead of Classic. I have a Win2k3 server that is a member server in a domain. I use it basically as a wsus server for Windows updates. I’ve installed Deep Freeze Enterprise on it and I wish to push the deep freeze seed and install packages from it. Now here’s the rub…. It will not allow me to access it through the network, (from any domain computers as well as workgroup computers). My domain servers and computers ask for a user name and password when browsed through the network, but this server won’t ask. It just times out and then the local computer asks if you want to diagnose the problem. So far the answer is “make sure that print & file sharing is enabled”, which it is. I have no problems with any pc updating from it. Why can’t I connect to the shares through the network? This server was a TLC server and I didn’t do a fresh install when I set it up. I just un-installed oracle and the TLC programs.
