may switch it to the either XFCE or LXDE desktop environment depending on how the performance is.

Ubuntu seemed to run well on some old 32 bit dual core laptops with 1 gig of memory in them.

Has anyone used OFRIS <a href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/dafturnofris-id/" target="_blank">
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dafturnofris-id/</a> to "freeze" a linux machine?
<br>
<a href="http://xubuntugeek.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-deep-freeze-xubuntu-with-ofris.html" target="_blank">http://xubuntugeek.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-deep-freeze-xubuntu-with-ofris.html</a>
<br>
It seems to work ok. The only issue I have found is if you have a user set to auto log-in sometimes the auto-login won't work. If this happens a reboot of the machine seems to clear it up.
<br>
<br>
I just downloaded it from sourceforge and ran the script. <br>

<div><font face="sans-serif" size="2">Ubuntu worked great up to 10.04 LTS. I would recommend Xubuntu now for older machines. Just make sure you put all your settings in Firefox before making it the default shell. And it's free!</font>

XP computers as catalog Kiosks and run Ubuntu on them. Thoughts, comments?</font>
