Like many others in OPLIN-land, Rodman Library had to find a new
email provider. Since I had worked with 1and1.com for many years
with many other organizations, we decided to use them. I would say
that 99% of our email is working fine. Unfortunately, included in
that remaining 1% are mail that I need to send to our vendors and to
our library system users group mailing lists.<br>
<br>
I have not been able to send messages to the domains booksite.com,
innovativeusers.org, or the Sierra list maintained by iii.com. I
have changed my address with their mailing lists. Messages bounce
back to me with messages like this:<br>
<br>
"This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of
its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address
failed:
<a href="mailto:sierra@listserv.iii.com" target="_blank">"sierra@listserv.iii.com"</a>:
no valid MX hosts found"<br>
<br>
A support person at booksite.com send me this message that she
received when trying to email me:<br>
<br>
"Technical details of permanent failure:<br>
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the
server for the recipient domain <a moz-do-not-send="true"
rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://rodmanlibrary.com/">rodmanlibrary.com</a>
by <a moz-do-not-send="true" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"
href="http://mx01.1and1.com/">mx01.1and1.com</a>. [74.208.5.21].<br>
<br>
The error that the other server returned was:<br>
550-Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable<br>
550 invalid DNS MX or A/AAAA resource record"<br>
<br>
But I continue to receive mail from the list at my new email
address. Our DNS is hosted by OIT and OPLIN has been helpful to the
extent that they can. Now I'm at the point of wondering if the 1and1
servers are blacklisted and even though the rodmanlibrary.com domain
is not on the blacklist, perhaps the 1and1 servers are.<br>
<br>
Is anyone else using 1and1 experiencing anything similar? Any
suggestions to make this work properly?<br>
