Firefox plans to end support for NPAPI plugins in March – all except Flash. I provide and support IE, Chrome, and Firefox on Win7 public computers. I try to provide as much backward compatibility as possible, so patrons can access the content they want. Since Chrome is well along in their calendar to end support for the Flash plugin, I currently have Flash disabled in Chrome, and I encourage patrons who are trying to access Flash content to use Firefox. There are always patrons who need a corporate or edu site that insists on using Silverlight, and so must have access to IE, etc.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>Like John, I manage Chrome’s behavior with Group Policy, using admx templates from the Chromium project. Full documentation is available at chromium.org. If you don’t deploy an AD domain, it’s also possible to manage Chrome per computer, in the registry. I use a GPO to force install extensions in Chrome, configure homepage, disable password manager, delete history on exit, and several other things helpful in a kiosk environment.
