<div dir="ltr"><div>My target replacement cycle is 5-7 years, also. Right now I'm doing 256GB m.2 NMVe SSDs on Windows 10 patron computers with your same software suite (and on general purpose staff computers). I'm good with 256GB. If the price comes down more on 512GB, I may eventually switch, but don't have any immediate urge to do so.</div><div><br></div><div>Worth noting is that SSDs perform best when they have a certain percentage of free space unused. A good rule of thumb is to not fill your drive up more than 75% to maintain performance. It's easy to find info on this with a bit of Googling. (Counter balancing this, I have an older 512GB ssd in my own laptop and I only have 44GB free and it still performs well enough. Possibly not optimally, but I haven't bothered to benchmark it or felt the need to do anything about it.)</div><div><br></div><div>These days, on new computers, I wouldn't go lower than the 256. They're pretty ubiquitous now and prices reflect that. <p>My MSI Laptop is 128GB SSD and will be 3 years old 4/30/19<br>
It has much, much more s/w installed than your thinking of, except
DF of course.</p>
<p>Fully updated and has 32 GB free.<br>
Although I would like 256GB.</p>
<p>Actually for yours, a 128GB would probably be sufficient --- IMHO</p>
